Above you a brilliant blue sky and the famous Greek
sun smiling. Around you pine, plane and olive trees
for your eyes to rest upon.
WELCOME TO SKIATHOS !!

Opposite enchanting Pelion, verdant, idyllic Skiathos
is the most touristically developed island of the Northern
Sporades. It has an area of 48 square kilometers and lies
44 nautical miles from Agios Konstantinos on the mainland
(about three hours by boat).

Skiathos combines a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a picturesque,
tranquil landscape. Sanctuaries for rare migratory birds,
thick forests and golden-sand beaches are there to complete
the picture of a true paradise.

The island's capital and main harbor, Skiathos, is located
on the SE coast. This is the site of the ancient city which
was deserted in the middle ages. The harbor is divided in two
by a small peninsula called Bourtzi. On Bourtzi stands a fortress
founded under Venetian rule, by the Ghisi brothers. Today only
a few sections of the wall survive.

NE of the harbor is Limni, an important aquatic sanctuary
for migrating birds. On the strip of earth between the lake and
the sea are the remains of a large shipyard, where once islanders
built their boats.
