Importing accounts from other systems
If you are moving email accounts from a different system, please take into
account the following:
- First finish all Vorras Mailer installation procedures except for email delivery. Email delivery should be the last step if you do not wish to lose any incoming email.
- Inform all your existing users that you will switch to a new system, and tell them that they need to register new accounts on the Vorras Mailer systems.
- Once all your users have registered accounts, you may enable delivery and remove the old email system. It is important to have all your users first create new accounts on Vorras Mailer before you enable delivery, because otherwise Vorras Mailer will bounce back to the sender any email that does not belong to existing users. Please note that Vorras Mailer bounces back email that does not belong to any user even if you have a catch-all account already set up.
While the above procedure will avoid message loss, moving previous emails
from other accounts to the new system may not be possible depending on the
old system. If you were using a hosted email service, often it may not be
possible to migrate existing mailboxes. Please contact us for more
information if you wish to migrate existing accounts.
